About Eric Shames, Principal Attorney at Shames Law

About the Principal

Eric Shames' practice focuses on private-equity funding and securities litigation. He is currently the Managing Principal of Shames Law. Previously, he was the general counsel and corporate secretary of a Toronto-based investment firm, and also held a similar position at a New Jersey based on-line brokerage firm. He has more than 20 years experience in the fields of securities law, financial market regulation and enforcement, litigation assessment, strategy and management, as well as in investment structuring and private-equity funding.

Eric Shames has lectured extensively on litigation and arbitration strategy, investment management, portfolio diversification, and derivative hedging. He has authored a newspaper column on contemporary economic news and issues and has been a guest lecturer at Fordham Law School. Mr. Shames also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Securities Law, Regulation and Compliance, and also serves on the Editorial Board of the Latin American Herald Tribune.
